Hi ladies, almost weekend! And a very freezing weekend here in the Netherlands.

Before the weekend I would like to introduce you the February Shabby Collab called Tooth Fairy Tale.

February 28 is National Tooth Fairy Day.
The tooth fairy is a fantasy figure of early childhood.When a child loses a baby tooth, if he or she places it beneath the bed pillow, the tooth fairy will visit while the child sleeps, replacing the lost tooth with a small payment. And so year after year, baby teeth are placed under children’s pillows at night in hopes of waking up to a wonderful surprise from none other than the Tooth Fairy!

So based upon this fairytale 10 of our amazing Shabby designers joined to make this great collab kit: Vesi Design, Fanfan-Rue des Anges, Anelia.net, Lisete Scrap, Tinci Designs, Laura Deacetis, OlgaUnger Designs, Komarik Designs and KDesigns.

December 21st – Tips and Tricks: Teeth Whitening

Hey Shabby Readers!

It’s time for another dose of Tips and Tricks

I am Anelia and this time I want to show you another super easy and quick technique to use to correct your photos

This time we’re talking teeth…you know those Hollywood sparkling white teeth? I personally love ‘em but in real life it’s not that easy to have them and I am not sure if it is necessary lol

You may use lots of teeth whitening beauty products but in the end your teeth just remain naturally bright which is good because you don’t scare people with a smile that looks errr..fake?

Anyway, real life is not photography as in photography we depend on light. Light can be tricky and our beautiful teeth usually appear yellowish which some of us may find unpleasant.

For this reason, I’d like to share one surprisingly EASY and QUICK technique for correcting teeth color. I am using Photoshop but I guess any software that allows Color Channel corrections will do.

So, let’s start

I am using this photo:

You see? This woman has some pretty natural teeth but they do appear yellowish so we’re going to correct them the easy way

Lets start by opening your photo and choosing the Lasso Tool which you access in the Tools Panel on the left in Photoshop

With the lasso tool being selected, make a rough selection around the teeh (don’t be super precise).

My selection looks like this:

Now, copy-paste the selection on new layer (you do this by cliking CTRL+C then CTRL+V or go to menu Edit–>Copy–>Paste).

The new layer should contain the rough selection of the teeth and should be active. Now, go to menu Image–>Adjustments–>Hue/Saturation

From the Master drop-down menu, choose Yellows

With the Yellows being selected, slide the Saturation slider to the left and the Lightness slider to the right until you’re happy with the whitening result and hit OK

VOILA! You’re done. Your photo now has some pretty nice white teeth

Flatten your photo and save it so you can scrap it later

I am sure everyone is going to be very happy with such teeth because they make any smile even more beautiful.
